This doodle was completed over several days in various coffee shops and at home. Milo wants to color it in, but I told him I had to scan it first. I wonder what he thinks that means.

Fanboy doodle
Remember when you were in school and you would draw the names of your favorite bands all over your notebook? Well, I couldn’t sleep last night but I also couldn’t will myself to work on any of the multitude of things I should have been working on…so I regressed to my adolescence and made a fanboy doodle. Probably not many of the same names I would have put in when I was 15, but some are the same, certainly. Size and boldness generally reflects importance, but not entirely consistently. Also, I ran out of room or just plain forgot a lot of names. It was late, gimme a break.

Changes on the way…
The relaunch of my blog is postponed while I rethink and streamline my website, blog, heck my entire internet presence. I intend to get with the times and combine my website and blog and should complete the process in the next week or so. Stay tuned…

Vacation
As is probably evident by the complete lack of recent posts, I am on vacation. Well, a working vacation at least. I am in Virginia at my my mom and stepdad’s place, using the peace and quiet and built in grandparental childcare to make some headway on the paintings for my next book, Dino Pets at School. I am also allotting time for swimming in the pond, harvesting vegetables from the garden, and jogging. I didn’t even bring my scanner so there’s no way for me to post any drawings, so anything I do while I’m here will be posted when I return to Brooklyn and start posting daily again in mid-September.

Guest Artist: Julie Peppito!
Deadlines and other obstacles have conspired to keep me from my daily drawings, so for the next few days I’ll be running Father’s Day drawings by my lovely and talented wife:

Detroit Wins the Superbowl!
Ok, here’s the explanation: Every year I have this little contest with Frank, my step-dad. I won’t go into the rules, but basically what you need to know is that it involves prognosticating the outcome of the NFL season, and that almost every year he wins. Fortunately we don’t bet money, but instead each year the “prize” is a word somehow related to football that we interpret creatively in the giving of the prize. Last year the prize was “fantasy”, and so here is my illustration of Frank’s fantasy (note that he’s a Detroit boy and a long-suffering Lions fan):
