I was going through old work, looking for appropriate samples for a possible job and I found this character sketch from the early days of working on The Seems.

His name is Simly, and he’s a resident of The Seems. He’s a combination Mr. Fix-It/Gal Friday, intended as comedy relief. If the books had sold better, that the writers (John Hulme & Mike Wexler) and I could have made a graphic novel focusing on Simly. Although I likely would have gotten tired of drawing all his gear panel after panel.

The clean sketch was approved; the only change I had to make was putting Elliot in costume as described in the text.
I was especially pleased that they let me keep the creepy mini-demons oozing from his pores at the top.

This is a color version of a drawing I did about a year ago. I’m looking into getting Giclee prints made of this and several other similar pieces.
Would anyone out there be interested in something like this?

Book one, Elliot & The Goblin War, is out now and I’m working on the cover for book 2. Here is the cover sketch. I’ll post the color version later in the week, when it’s done.
