I was making some fumbling and uninspired sketches of Milo this morning when he grabbed my pencil and made his very first drawing. His contribution is on the far right:

Been exhausted lately. Never enough sleep. Between the things I have to do and the things I want to do sleep loses out. Often when I do finally lie down, my brain won’t stop humming. Then there are the times I do fall fast asleep, and I sleep so hard I almost feel like I’m dissolving. It’s actually a good feeling. That’s what this is a picture of. Here’s a detail:

Yesterday was Julie’s birthday and tomorrow, of course, is Valentine’s Day. I did this drawing for her.

I know he looks kind of maniacal here…but when he gets to chomping, he does so with ferocity and determination. I have no recollection of it, but if Milo’s drooling, chomping and night wakings are any indication then teething is a bitch.

This is a just-completed assignment for HEEB magazine’s upcoming issue. The article is about how the two Jewish members of the band have taken over the business and financial aspects of the band and treat the other two members as employees. This was an unabashed attempt to get my Mort Drucker on.
